Why Study?

Good question.
Yes, we live in an instant world where marginal talent can many times find work. However, there are those actors whose work transcends current fads. These actors are able to forge a long and varied career. When we see these performers it is often not readily apparent why they are so different. They can move us and render intricate characters without apparently “doing” much at all. These actors are working with an underlying truthfulness that can only come with a deep understanding of the craft of acting.
A skillful teacher can help the student access the part of himself or herself that lies below the surface of the unconscious. These students are then able to work instinctively and intuitively rather than intellectually. To train is to build confidence for the day you are thrust into bigger projects with increased pressure to perform on the spot. A trained, confident actor is sought after for his/ her contribution to the creative process.
